Add a transaction
Moniepot gives you three ways to add transactions depending on how many you need to enter and where the data is coming from.
| Method | Best for |
|---|---|
| Quick entry | Adding one transaction at a time |
| Bulk manual entry | Adding several transactions at once |
| CSV import | Importing a bank export or spreadsheet |
Quick entry
The fastest way to log a single transaction.
- 1From the Dashboard or Transactions page, click Add transaction → Quick entry.
- 2Fill in the amount, description, date, budget, and category.
- 3Optionally add Notes for extra context.
- 4Click Save transaction.
Recent categories appear at the top of the list so you can pick them in one tap.
Bulk manual entry
Add multiple transactions at once using a spreadsheet-style interface.
- 1Click Add transaction → Bulk entry.
- 2Fill in each row with amount, description, date, and category.
- 3Click Add row to add more rows.
- 4Fix any validation errors highlighted in red.
- 5Click Review to check for duplicates, then Confirm to save.
Moniepot auto-saves your work as a draft, so if you close the dialog by accident you can pick up where you left off.
Add income
Income transactions work slightly differently — they don't need a category.
- 1Click Add transaction → Add income.
- 2Enter the amount, description, and date.
- 3Select the budget to credit.
- 4Click Save.
Edit a transaction
Editing opens an inline form directly in the transaction row — no separate page needed.
- 1Go to Transactions.
- 2Find the transaction — use the search bar or filters to narrow by budget, date, or category.
- 3Click the edit icon (pencil) in the actions column on the right.
- 4The row expands with an inline edit form. Update the fields you need.
- 5Click Save to apply the changes.
Only Owners and Editors can edit transactions. Viewers have read-only access.
Delete a transaction
- 1Find the transaction in the Transactions list.
- 2Click the delete icon (trash) in the actions column.
- 3Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.
On mobile, tap a transaction card to reveal the Edit and Delete action buttons at the bottom of the card.
